The bride of Boaz was Ruth ,whose name means “friend or companion,” . Ruth came from the descendant of Moabitess. She was born and raised in paganism. Ruth was married into an Israelite family and eventually converted to Judaism. Her husband was Mahlon, ( He is Ruth’s first husband ) son of Elimelech and Naomi . Mahlon had a brother , his name was Chilion and his wife was Orpah . Naomi’s husband and her two sons died in quick succession. The cause of the death was unknown. After their death Naomi was concerned for her daughters-in-law. She did not want them to feel compelled to accompany her back to her own country. Naomi tells them to return to their maiden homes. Orpah does so, but the faithful Ruth makes a vow to Naomi, to never desert her. “Whither thy guest, I will go; thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God.”( Ruth 1:16).
Ruth , a young widow decided to follow Naomi to Bethlehem. After arriving in Bethelem, Ruth tells Naomi that she will find food for them. She goes to a field which is being harvested, and asks permission to gather the bits of grain left behind by the harvesters. This is the place where Ruth met Boaz, a rich man. The land belonged to Boaz, who was Naomi’s close relative. It seems to have been love at first sight for Boaz, and he ordered that Ruth be well treated when she worked in his fields. He also insisted that his workers leave a reasonable portion of the harvest for all of the gleaners when he heard of the plight of his kin, Naomi and Ruth, he provided them with additional support. Ruth found favor in the eyes Boaz (Ruth 2:10) .
Ruth was a obedient loyal woman and she was well known for noble character. Boaz loved Ruth because of her character and heart. When Boaz agreed to redeem Ruth, one of the first
things he said was, “All my fellow townsmen know that you are a woman of noble character” (Ruth 3:11). He felt blessed to have such a woman . In addition to that he also liked her humble attitude as in beginning she used the words “take your maidservant,” Ruth is a woman demonstrating God’s love . The outstanding characteristics of Ruth was love, loyalty, generosity, submissiveness and the desire to worship the God of Israel. She was blessed by God, and was very loyal and obedience to her mother in law Naomi. Ruth was also a good wife , because she was very humble to her husband Boaz . Boaz loved Ruth because of her noble character and beautiful heart that she has for .After their marriage they soon had a son, Obed. He he is the father of Jesse, the father of David who became king of a unified Israel. This was the family line of Jesus Christ.
The book of Ruth is a story of redemption. This story has valuable and inspirational advice for women today. The many challenges Ruth faced are not strange to us, nor is her loyalty and devotion to those she loved. Ruth teaches us to rely on God, knowing that He is in control and if we would allow Him to rule freely in our lives He will be glorified through us. Just as He was faithful to Ruth . He will be faithful to us if we would only surrender to Him. God accepts anyone who truly seeks Him. As it is written in the Bible that , “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20).
